GRACE NOTES WEEKLY…for the week of 09/02/2018

GRACE NOTES WEEKLY…for the week of 09/02/2018

Dear People of Grace,

How’s your heart?

That’s the question we asked as we gathered for worship on Sunday morning. Just like we need other kinds of check-ups and scheduled maintenance for all kinds of things in our lives, so we need to practice “spiritual check-ups” and see how our heart is doing.

In the traditions and teachings of the Hebrew people, your heart is the very core and center of who you are. In 2018 we have a greater understanding of how the brain controls many of the aspects of our bodies and interactions with our world, but in the time of Jesus, people understood that it was the heart mattered most.

So, I ask again, how is your heart? Is your heart directed always towards Jesus and a faith-filled life, or could it use a little tender loving care and work?

However you answer those questions and wherever you find yourself this week, be bold to pray, “Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.”

Jesus has a heart for you and for all people, and he desires deeply that our hearts be turned towards him and his kingdom call in our lives always.

 In Christ’s peace,

Pastor Tara

PRAYER for the week of 09/02/2018

 Let us pray…

Into my heart, into my heart,
Come into my heart, Lord Jesus;
Come in today, come in to stay;
Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.

Out of my heart, out of my heart,
Shine out of my heart, Lord Jesus;
Shine out today, shine out always;
Shine out of my heart, Lord Jesus

Amen.

SCRIPTURE READING from Psalm 51
