Dear People of Grace,
Yesterday, Grace Lutheran Church celebrated our 128th anniversary. Take a moment and think of everything that has happened in the past 128 years. Together, the people of Grace have experienced joys and sorrows, blessings and burdens, and everything that has happened in the past 128 years makes up the story of Grace. What a story we have to tell!
On an even more important note, while we celebrate 128 years of Grace Lutheran Church, I like to think about what it means to celebrate 128 years of God’s grace. As Christians of the Lutheran flavor, we believe that God is living and moving, and is very present to us, wherever we find ourselves. There is nowhere our God does not go and that means that there is nowhere that we do not go. Everywhere we go is a chance to share the message that God’s grace is for every single person, no matter what.
Wherever you go this week, and whatever you do, celebrate the great gift of God’s grace—for you and for all people! Thanks be to God!
Peace & Blessings!
PS: During Worship yesterday, I said I would be sharing a link to the Texas Bible.
This is an online translation of the Bible, and where appropriate to the original Greek or Hebrew language of the original scriptural texts, it replaces our English singular “you” with the plural “y’all” so that we can see easily where the plural “you” is. This is meant to help us see where the message of the biblical books is speaking to the community as opposed to the individual. Let me know if you have any questions, and take note there is also an option to select “yinz” over “y’all”—if you are interested.
PRAYER for the week of 08/26/2018
Let us pray…
O Lord, who has mercy upon all, take away from me my sins,
and mercifully kindle in me the fire of Your Holy Spirit.
Take away from me the heart of stone,
and give me a heart of flesh,
a heart to love and adore You,
a heart to delight in You,
to follow and to enjoy You,
for Christ’s sake.
SCRIPTURE READING from Psalm 23:4
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff— they comfort me.
